Available for Granting: $2500/Calendar Year for a maximum of 2 years. Funds are paid directly to the Program Facility and must be utilized in the 2023/2024 school calendar years.

Applications must be complete at the time of submission. Applications may be mailed or delivered to 410 Gladstone Avenue in Ottawa, K2P 0Z1 and must be received by the Red Apron before December 31st, 2022

Recipients will be notified as soon as the selection committee has made a decision, or by January 31, 2023 at the latest

To apply, please fill out the Application Form and provide an essay explaining why this scholarship will make a difference.

Additionally, you will need to share:

  • Details on work experience, community involvement and volunteer activities you have had in the last 2 years, with accompanying reference name and phone number

To qualify, applicants must attest to the following:

  • Identify as Indigenous and be between the ages of 18 and 25 years. Proof of First Nations, Métis or Inuit status may be requested.
  • Be a Canadian Citizen residing in the National Capital Region
  • Be committed to registering for studies in Culinary Arts at Algonquin College or the Start Up Farm Program at the Just Food Farm for the 2023/2024 season
  • Be 18 years or older at the time of making this application

Applicants must include the following documents with their application:

  1. An essay explaining why this scholarship is important to the applicant and how the applicant plans to make a difference in their community through their work in the food or organic farming fields
  2. A letter of recommendation from a teacher who you studied under in your final year of high school
  3. A letter of recommendation from an employer or an employment experience, which could include volunteer work
  4. Proof of enrolment into either a Culinary Arts program at Algonquin College, or the Farm Start-up Program at the Just Food Farm, or a statement of commitment to do so.
  5. Applicants must include a summary of their costs related to their studies, and details explaining how this bursary will be helpful in their educational goals and timelines
