Frozen Double & Single Meals

Defrost all frozen meals completely before following the reheating instructions. This can be done by letting the meal thaw in your fridge overnight. We generally suggest you transfer your food to your own oven or microwave safe container. Blue containers cannot go in the oven. Black containers are microwave, not oven safe. Aluminum containers are oven safe, but remove all plastic lids, and small plastic containers inside.  Don’t forget to read about our green packaging.

Fresh Meals

The brown cardboard and blue and clear Friendlier containers are not oven safe. Food must be transferred to an oven-safe container for reheating purposes. Don’t forget to read the ‘Table Talk’ sheet that comes with your meal for detailed reheating instructions!

Reheating Fish

Place fish on a baking sheet and reheat for no more than 10-12 minutes at 375 F. It can also be reheated in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.

Reheating Vegetables

Vegetables can be reheated in the oven, covered for 15-20 minutes at 375F, warmed in the microwave for 1-2 minutes but are best heated in a skillet on high heat for 2-3 minutes.

Reheating Chicken & Pork

All of our chicken and pork is fully cooked at the Red Apron to an internal temperature of 165 degrees, measured using a meat thermometer, regardless of colour. Reheat at 375F for 20-25 minutes, or to the same internal temperature of 165 degrees.

Reheating Steak

Our steak is intended to be enjoyed medium rare and may become tough when cooked or reheated to medium or well done. We suggest warming steak slightly. Reheat at 375F for 5-10 minutes, or in 30 seconds increments in the microwave.

Reheating Burritos

It is always preferable to thaw before reheating, then place on a baking sheet and bake at 375 F for 15-20 minutes.  This will allow them to crisp up on the outside. Alternatively, they can be warmed in the microwave for 1 minute increments until warmed through.

Reheating Sauces

We often provide extra sauce or gravy on the side for meat dishes. In most cases these sauces can be warmed in a small dish in the microwave or small pot on the stove top, with a few tablespoons of water to thin, and poured over the meat or served on the side

Reheating Soups

If frozen, you can run your container under hot water and pop it out into a pot. Reheat slowly on low heat, stirring frequently until thawed and warmed to your desired temperature. If you find the soup too thick, you can thin it out to your desired consistency with stock, water, cream or milk. If the soup has separated during the freezing process, just whisk it gently while reheating.

Cold Soups

Gazpacho and other cold soups should be placed on the counter or in the fridge until thawed and served slightly chilled.

Warming Flatbreads

Remove the flatbreads from the packaging while they are still frozen and lay them on a baking sheet to defrost for ½ hour. Bake at 375 F for 10-15 minutes.
